AAHOA Attends Diwali Celebration at VP's Residence in Washington

AAHOA Chairman Bharat Patel had the distinct honor to attend a Diwali celebration at the U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’ Residence in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, November 8, on behalf of AAHOA and its nearly 20,000 Members.

“This year, let us pause and take the time to enjoy the blessings bestowed on us by our family, friends, and colleagues when there are so many people around the world who are unable to do the same,” said AAHOA Chairman Bharat Patel. “Diwali holds profound significance for the Indian American community – symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali transcends cultural boundaries, fostering unity and understanding, and it serves as a powerful reminder that, no matter where we are, the light within us has the power to dispel darkness and shed light to the world.”

This extraordinary event was co-hosted by Vice President Harris and Douglas Emhoff in collaboration with Indian American Impact. It provided a unique platform to shine a light on Diwali's cultural and spiritual significance, drawing attention to the rich tapestry of traditions that make it such a cherished holiday for countless Americans and individuals around the world. The event provided attendees an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Festival of Lights and its universal message of hope, unity, and the triumph of light over darkness.
