AAHOA President & CEO Laura Lee Blake released the below statement following the devastation caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria earlier this week:

“Our hearts and ongoing prayers are with the people of Turkey and Syria as they continue to confront the unthinkable devastation of the recent earthquake and work to provide aid to people who lost their homes, livelihoods, and most tragically, their loved ones.

AAHOA Members are supporting the relief efforts now underway, and encourage others to do likewise. Thousands of children and families, many displaced from their homes and facing shortages of food and water as well as severe weather, need our help.”

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has responded to the tragedy by providing critical health supplies, blankets, clothing, and safe drinking water and sanitation supplies in the affected region.
